What to do in London in one day vol.2

September 6, 2017

If you read my previous blog post about what to do in London in a day, then you already know we took the Clippers boat from the Intercontinental London - The O2 to London Eye and walked to Trafalgar Square. From there we made our way to Covent Garden. Set in London’s West End, Covent Garden is a major draw for visitors and Londoners who enjoy its many attractions, including shopping, theatre, restaurants, bars, history and culture. Things to see in and around Covent Garden include the London Transport Museum, the Royal Opera House, Somerset House and Covent Garden Market. We made a small round in the Apple Market as well as in the Jubilee Market and then headed to Balthazar for a quick cocktail. But more about where to eat and drink in London already in the next post. Covent Garden is really cute and a lovely area to visit whether it's for shopping or eating or drinking!

When in London a must-see is definitely the famous Buckingham Palace, which is the London residence and administrative headquarters of the reigning monarch of the United Kingdom. Located in the City of Westminster, the stunning palace is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality. Through the beautiful Green Park, we made our way towards our final destination of the day - Harrods. Did you know that this luxury department store in Knightsbridge is actually owned by the state of Qatar? The store occupies a 20,000 m2 site and has 330 departments covering one million square feet (90,000 m2) of retail space. The Harrods motto is Omnia Omnibus Ubique, which is Latin for "all things for all people, everywhere" and it really has everything! After a day of wondering around London, we decided to treat ourselves to my favourite cafe from Paris, Laduree, that is also situated in Harrods. As promised, my last post about London will be of some places for eating and drinking, so hope to see you back in my website in a couple of days!
