Thailand Travel Blog #6: Aonang Cliff Beach Resort

Two days relaxing in the private villa in Krabi was exactly what we needed after travelling to Bangkok, Phuket and Phi Phi Islands. After staying in the villa our group split up and we decided to explore more of Krabi and the surrounding paradise islands such as Poda, Rai and others, whilst the others decided to go to Koh Samui. We were looking for a Krabi hotel that would be relaxing, but not too far from the restaurants and water taxis in Aonang. And then we found the perfect one - Aonang Cliff Beach Resort.

Krabi’s 4 star boutique hotel Aonang Cliff Beach Resort does not only have a central location, it also features spectacular views of the cliff and Andaman Sea. I don’t recommend you to stay in Krabi, since there is no beach there (only a river) so that is why staying in this Aonang is the perfect option. Here you will find yourself right in the heart of everything, while also being able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the hills.

Aonang Cliff Beach Hotel has 97 newly refurbished, spacious guest rooms in Superior, Deluxe and Ocean View categories. We were lucky enough to stay in one of their 32 Panorama Suites that offers a lovely balcony with your own private bathtub - I fell in love with it the minute I saw it. And did I mention the dramatic views? You can admire the limestone cliffs, the islands, as well as the turquoise waters - hence the name of this amazing Krabi resort. Our room was super spacious with a luxurious King Size bed and had the coolest bathroom I have ever seen - a bathroom with glass windows, so you can admire the sea views even when you brush your teeth or have a refreshing rain shower! What a clever feature!

The poolside

The day we arrived we decided to enjoy the resort. The hotel has 2 pools and one of them is a brand new infinity pool with jacuzzi beds in it. The panoramic views when you swim are just what you’re looking for when you’re travelling to Thailand. We had a lovely lunch just next to the pool in the restaurant and stayed in the naturally shaded lounge area after for some Mai Tai cocktails. Just before the sunset we made our way up to their romantic rooftop bar and dining venue - The Peak. The hotel invited us for a lovely small cocktail party, where we witnessed even better better views of the lovely scenery in Aonang.

Krabi Night Market

One night we also decided to visit Krabi town to do some shopping. Every Friday evening there is a night market, that everyone recommended to visit. But to our surprise, it was quite small and extremely busy. And to be honest, after visiting the ChatuChak Market in Bangkok, no other market will impress you. So don’t even bother going there. I did buy a lovely dress and we also got some fruit and tried the local food which was really good, but other than that, don't expect much more.

Andamana Beach Club

Aonang itself has a beach that is actually quite beautiful, but should you prefer a quieter, less-touristy beach experience make sure to visit the hotel’s private beach - Andamana Beach Club. Even though its 6km away, the resort offers a free shuttle bus service there and back. It’s a private beach of 150 meter natural sand framed by mangroves and palm trees, bamboo daybeds, comfortable bean bag lounges on the sand and they serve tropical cocktails and snacks throughout the day. We enjoyed a whole afternoon lounging with Pina Coladas and I even fell asleep whilst lying in one of their hammocks - so peaceful, so quiet and no tourists. And you can even have a massage on the beach! Talk about real paradise..

The next day we took a private boat and went to discover some gorgeous islands nearby and you can read all about it in my next blog. But to sum up this great hotel there is a couple of things I still haven’t shared with you. Like their amazing complimentary breakfast buffet. They offer a great selection of breakfast dishes - from eggs and fruit to curries and pastry and whilst you eat you can hear the sounds of local birds. Anonang Cliff Beach Resort also has a great Buffet Dinner with live music if you want to stay in the resort for dinner. Moreover, they also feature a wellness center complete with Thai Spa, Gym, Muay Thai, Yoga and Tai Chi classes, so you can have an active holiday or relax to the max, either way this hotel will not disappoint you. Last, but not least I want to mention how professional and welcoming the whole staff was. From the free transfer to the hotel and to the airport from the room service to the restaurant waiters - everybody was so happy and kind. Thank you for making us feel at home! This experience was what I what I came to Thailand for and this is the place you I found it - a truly relaxing paradise hotel.
