Next stop: Casa del Mar Hotel in Langkawi, Malaysia

From the picturesque Koh Lipe island, we continued our travels to Malaysia! We took a two hour ferry to Langkawi island, where we arrived safe and sound. I say that because when you leave Koh Lipe, you must go to the immigration office (or more like a kiosk on the beach) where your passport will be stamped and kept until you board the ferry. It’s not the most comfortable feeling - giving away your passport for an hour in a foreign country, but thankfully we did get them back as soon as the ferry left Koh Lipe. So after a 40 km ferry ride we arrived to Telaga Harbour in Langkawi and we instantly noticed and felt the difference between Thailand Malaysia - everything was very clean, modern and organised. Malaysia is like the big brother of Thailand. They even take your fingerprints in the passport control and overall we had a great first impression of Malaysia. We got a taxi easily from the marina and headed to our hotel that was just a 20-minute ride away. We chose this the Casa del Mar resort, because it has Mediterranean-style feel and it was supposed to be the perfect hotel for a private and romantic retreat in Langkawi. And did I mention that Casa del Mar also won the TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards 2016?

As we were kindly taken to our Suite, called Cendana, we couldn’t believe our eyes - the room offered sea and beach views of each window. The whole feel of the room was so cozy and beautiful - the natural timber flooring and a stunning cabana-style bed. Every morning as we opened the terrace doors, we could feel and hear the sea breeze and hear the birds sing - what else can you ask from a hotel? And we actually had two balconies and two rooms in our Suite, so you feel like you’re in a beachfront apartment. The breakfast is served in a sleek restaurant with a patio and beach seating. There's also a posh spa, and gorgeous outdoor pool area, a jacuzzi and a relaxed bar with a lucky hour! The lucky hour means you have a chance of getting a free cocktail or two or three, depends how lucky you are. All you have to do is spin the wheel and guess the color it lands on. I was also invited for a cocktail reception on the first day of my stay, where we could meet other guests and enjoy the sunset. The most romantic part was definitely their beachfront restaurant - you can dine looking at the stars and have your feet in the sand! Overall, the service at Casa Del Mar, Langkawi was impeccable - they were super friendly, warm and helpful, but still 100% professional at all times. This hotel is definitely one I would love to return for a whole week - you won’t be bored here, because it’s just like home, only in paradise.
