Weekend at the Intercontinental London - The O2 Hotel

We were so honoured to be invited to an amazing Indian wedding in London last weekend and even more thrilled to be staying at the same hotel where the wedding took place. The stunning riverside InterContinental® London - The O2 hotel stands out in the buzzing Greenwich Peninsula, with 453 luxury rooms, a beauty spa and a ballroom for up to 3,000. The Arora ballroom, that is one of Europe’s largest pillar-free ballrooms, was also the venue for the wedding party for 1000 guests, but more about the party already in my next blog post!

The hotel, that was opened less than 2 years ago, is spectacular! If you're going to a concert in the O2 arena, this is definitely the place to be. A covered walkway links the hotel lobby to the main concourse, meaning you can get from room to venue in less than 10 minutes! But it's also a great place to stay for a weekend in London. It’s a short five-minute walk from Greenwich North underground station and Greenwich pier for riverboat access; 20 minutes by taxi to City Airport. I recommend to take a ride with the Clipper boat to the town - you will enjoy the architecture of the city and can have a drink in the back of the boat. The hotel features a chic nautical theme, especially in the beautiful Clipper Bar where you will feel like you're on a contemporary ship at sea sipping on champagne. Meanwhile, both the Market Brasserie and The Peninsula Restaurant face the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf and you'll get the best views of the skyline from their 18th floor sky bar.

The breakfast is served at the Market Brasserie, where a buffet spread offers something for everyone: full English, an egg station, smoothies, cereals, fruits, breads and salmon. And if you're looking to relax after shopping and strolling in the city, make sure to visit the spa and enjoy the 17-metre pool, gym, hot tub, sauna, steam room or book an appointment at one of their treatment rooms. Overall the service was professional and friendly and I definitely recommend it anyone looking for a relaxing London city break.
