Provence Holiday #10: Dining in Bonnieux Village

Just 15 minutes from our hotel La Bastide de Marie is the village of Bonnieux that is one of the many historic "hill villages" in the region. Dating back to Roman times, it situated on top of the Luberon hills and it’s also near the Chateau La Canorgue where ‘A Good Year’ movie was filmed and where we were heading next. We had a small walk around the cute village and decided to have lunch in Le Fournil restaurant that is ideally situated in the middle of the Bonnieux, with a big beautiful terrace and a genuine 17th century fountain. The restaurant is set in a natural troglodytic cave, formerly the village bakery. It has great character and historical interest but still cool contemporary décor. The food is amazing and it can be best described as a refreshing modern attitude towards local cuisine and tradition. As for dinner, we dined at another restaurant in the village called L’Arome which was also a fabulous choice. Make sure to try their tasting menu!
