Pirate Boat Tour to Benagil Caves

When in Carvoeiro area, you must visit the famed Benagil Caves! They’re beautiful from the land, but you get a much cooler experience by enjoying the caves and the coastline from the sea. In that way you’ll see the hidden caves & grottos as well as the stunning secluded beaches that you wouldn’t have a clue of when you’re on the land. We bought the tickets from a local shop in Carvoeiro (35€ per person for a 3 hour tour) and then headed to Cais Vasco da Gama port in Portimao later that day, since the ship sails off from there. Before heading to our tour we enjoyed lunch at the Club Naval de Portimao - the food was great and so were the views! And the prices in Portugal are much cheaper than in Marbella! “Santa Bernarda” really feels like a real pirate ship. First we sailed across the Rio Arade, passing the beautiful fishermen towns Ferragudo and Carvoeiro. We enjoyed the view over the fascinating rock formations of Algar Seco, where we also went for a walk, and witnessed some cool hidden grottos of the Portuguese South coast! Since it wasn’t so hot, we didn’t need sunscreen, but if you’re going in the middle of the summer make sure to pack some with you! Life jackets are included in the tour and if you’d like to bring your own food and snacks, you’re welcome! Definitely recommend! After the tour we had a walk in the beach boulevard of Portimao and the beach there is amazing - so you could spend a whole day there as there is a lot to discover!
